The iPhone 4 antenna issue may not warrant a recall in Apple’s estimation, but that isn’t really because they’re too scared of the cost of such action. PC Magazine reports that Apple’s fiscal 3rd quarter for 2010 was a great success, in no small part due to sales of the iPad. Apple took away a $ 3.25 billion profit after raking in a total of $ 15.7 billion for the quarter. Never one to rest on its laurels, Apple may be making more exciting news very soon. If the Cult of Mac’s “highly placed source” is accurate, T-Mobile may start selling the iPhone 4 by 3rd quarter 2010. Furthermore, PC World reports that this merger is 80 percent certain.
T-Mobile and iPhone 4 would be a powerful combo
T-Mobile would rise from America’s fourth-largest wireless carrier to the very top with iPhone 4 in the wings. According to PC World, there could possibly be a major stumbling block regarding T-Mobile’s 3G frequencies. T-Mobile uses a non-standard band, and iPhone 4 hasn’t been tested on all the carrier’s ranges.
Perhaps this should go within the iPhone 4 rumor discard pile
PC World reminds us that Cult of Mac’s predictions do not always stick, so do not get too excited yet. Yes, T-Mobile may have the available bandwidth for the customer load, as they presently have fewer subscribers than AT and T or Verizon, and yes, T-Mobile isn’t really fighting with Steve Jobs. Another plus on T-Mobile’s side is that Apple already works with its parent company (Deustche Telekom) in Europe.
Do T-Mobile waters look good to you?
Realistically, T-Mobile won’t have bandwidth to spare for long if Apple dives into their pool. Even with antenna difficulties, iPhone 4 is quite attractive to tech buyers. It is probably the most serious competition for Droid and other top smartphones. Do you see it differently? Sound off.
