Times Square saw the massive fanfare around opening the Pop Tart shop, called Pop-Tarts World, just this week. The shop based on the pastry offers Pop-Tarts inspired cuisine and Pop-Tarts vending machines. The rent for Times Square is massive at $ 1,000 per square foot, but Kellogg’s hasn’t determined yet if the shop can be permanent.
What is inside the Pop-Tarts store
Pop-Tarts World offers a little bit of everything. The cafe at Pop-Tarts World serves up Pop-Tarts sandwiches, Pop-Tarts-covered celery, even Pop-Tarts topped cinnamon rolls. For $ 1 per pastry, you can create your own variety pack of 12 flavors. You are able to also build your own Pop-Tart, including just about any topping or flavor you are able to think of.
Brand visibility is the goal of the Pop-Tarts store
The Pop-Tarts business determined to open up the Times Square shop to show its “brand maturity”. Sales recently are flat for this breakfast bar pastry. Owned by Kellogg, the Pop-Tarts brand sold about $ 481 million worth of product in the United States in 2009.
Pop-Tarts as part of your own kitchen
Customized Pop-Tarts are available outside of Times Square. It is healthier and cheaper to make Pop-Tarts at home. It takes less than 20 cents per pastry and no high fructose corn syrup to make your own. In a bowl, combine 2 cups of flour with 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 cup butter, 1 large egg, and a few tablespoons of milk. Roll out the dough and cut rectangles. Spread half the rectangles with jam, chocolate, cinnamon sugar or whichever filling you like. Use the other half of the dough to top off the filling, and seal it by pressing a fork around the edges. Fridge the filled dough when you preheat the oven to 350. Bake the Pop-Tarts for 20 to 25 minutes.
