A flight from Johannesburg to Tripoli crashed just short of the airport, and the Libyan plane crash has only one survivor. 104 passengers were aboard the Airbus A330 200. It isn’t known what the cause was, but fog was reported in the vicinity of the runway. Some quick loans can be put into getting an inquiry together, though foul play is not suspected at this time.
Libyan plane crash en route to regular stop
The Libyan plane crash took place just outside an international airport in Tripoli. A stop in Tripoli is par for the course for the flight route, which ran from Johannesburg, South Africa, to London. Tripoli was supposed to be a regular stop and short layover before continuing on. At least one passenger was a British subject. Of the 93 passengers and 11 crew members, only one survivor was found in the wreckage.
Sole Dutch child survives
According to the Christian Science Monitor, the only survivor was a single Dutch child. The plane carrying Afriyiqah Airways Flight 771 was an Airbus A330 200, a mid size airliner comparable to a Boeing 767. There are conflicting statements over the nationality of the passengers, but at least one British citizen is on the passenger list.
Aircraft not at fault
Airbus A330 200 planes are nothing short of very reliable, though there are some incidents involving the model. The plane crashed just short of the runway and disintegrated. Four fatal incidents are attributed to this model of airplane, according to the Aviation Safety Network, but only three were crashes. Another fatality that occurred involving an Airbus A330 was a hijacker who jumped out of a re-pressurized plane. (Wise people aren’t radicals, if you know what I mean.) An investigation by Libyan authorities is pending.
