How to Buy Your First Car

Things to know

It will burden your wallet to buy a car. People don’t understand that it’s bad to take out loans to buy a new car. I have tips for everybody on this subject.

My first suggestion

My first tip is to buy an old car, never a new one. Just driving a new car out of the lot will cost you a couple thousand dollars. When you buy a car a few years old, you will save a lot of money. It will be more practical and less expensive to buy an old car for a first car.

The second thing I want you to know

My second tip is for you to buy an older car. Chances are that you will sell your first car quickly. You might count on not keeping your car very long the first time around. If you buy a car from the nineties then it will save you a lot of money. Cars significantly drop in price when there is something wrong with it so that’s what you should look for. You need to be sure that the car will work well through a few years of working or college.

Tip Number Three

My third tip is that you pay for your car in cash. If you walk up to someone and are trying to buy their car, cash is going to look a lot better than anything else, and you will be able to bargain for a much better price. This works with anything you want to buy and not just cars. Showing that you have cash in your hands will get you things for super cheap. Don’t pay with cash though unless you get a receipt or contract from them. This will be the way to protect yourself when you can show you’ve bought the vehicle.

My fourth tip

I hope that you will save up instead of taking out a loan for the car. Think about trying to take out a very small loan for the car if you take one out at all. Two things will happen for you; you will appreciate your car more and save a lot of money. It will cost you a lot to pay back a car loan. It is important not to take out many loans for your first car.

Tip Number Five

Make sure to take good care of the car. You are likely to have your car run longer than a couple of years if you treat it right. Changing the oil and checking the engine are good things to do. Try to stop yourself from going on many long trips with your car. You need to keep the car tidy on the inside and outside. Hopefully after everything you will be able to find an inexpensive and long running car.
