There’s a CA cannabis regulation that was just passed by Schwarzenegger. The bill is not a full legalization. It is only a mild decriminalization. The penalty for possession has been lowered by the new law. Possession of small amounts of weed will now only result in a fine. Formerly, the offense would take a defendant to court for misdemeanor possession.
Schwarzenegger operating the marijuana reform angle
Recently, Governor Schwarzenegger signed a bill. The bill was called 1449. The penalty of carrying less than an ounce of marijuana around went down with SB 1449. Right now, an individual can be fined up to $100 and is needed to show up to court with a misdemeanor offence. However, as of Jan. 1, 2011, the brand new penalty can be only a fine, based on the Los Angeles Times. Proposition 19 is an additional proposal being looked at where it would be legal to use marijuana for recreational purposes. Gov. Schwarzenegger opposes Prop 19, however he signed SB 1449 for practical reasons. Law enforcement and the courts won’t have to deal with the burden as often. California has some of one of the most relaxed medical marijuana laws within the United States.
The bill is inadequate
There is not much of a debate to say that marijuana is evil. Marijuana has the same effect of tobacco and alcohol. It is the very same kind of gateway drug. Whether or not that person uses marijuana first or not, someone wanting drugs will discover them. The drug being illegal is odd to start with thinking about the history of the criminalization of cannabis. Everyone who was considered a political dissenter was stopped with the “Drug War” that Nixon started.
Hardly any advantages
History teaches us that individuals will discover a way to do what they want, although there is the regulation. Crime happened mostly because alcohol was prohibited in the early 20th century. Marijuana being illegal does the very same thing. The police end up having more to do. Those who lived with the K.G.B. or Stasi looking over their shoulder have a thing or two to say. They testify to that experience completely. No one benefits from marijuana being illegal.
