Stirring the electronic tablet industry with Blackpad

The most recent “it” system may well be the Blackberry Blackpad. The headline about the Blackpad, possibly including a preview, could be made at the Developer Conference today. Today’s keynote speech may include a preview of the system. Blackberry / RIM couldn’t come close to the market of an Apple Developers conference, however the headline is still highly anticipated.

How the Blackpad could help Blackberry

Recently, Research in Motion has encountered many enterprise challenges. The original Blackberry machine was not for consumer use. Instead, it was targeted for company and government use. Though that niche is relatively small, Blackberry and RIM did very well serving it. Blackberry phones became really popular with consumers. Though it wasn’t intended, consumers simply loved the devices. Consumer friendliness doesn’t always match well with high performance and high security. Many customers are defecting from RIM Blackberry devices to Android and Apple products.

Extracting the Blackpad

The Blackpad is, in short, an iPad competitor. Rather than a stylus, the Blackpad will take touches. The Blackpad hardware most likely will not create an appearance at the Blackberry developer conference. RIM almost certainly plans to discuss the main points of the Blackpad, though. At seven inches, the Blackpad screen will be concerning the same size as the iPad. For video conferencing use, Blackpad will consist of two cameras — one on the front and one on the back. The biggest news is that Blackberry is developing a new operating system just for the Blackpad. The price is also a large question. Some say that you may need a no fax payday loans to purchase one, others say not at all.

The prospective market for Blackpad

Research in Motion has stated that they wish to remain a business-based business. This doesn’t mean they will shun everyday customers. Blackberry is working with Amazon to create a new music application, and also the Blackpad will reportedly be “equally targeted”. Blackpad can have one major competitive advantage. If a 3G Blackpad is released, it will not be tied to just one cellular network. This removes many of the worries of iPad users, because there won’t be a single network with monopoly over the service. There will be numerous other competitors to the Blackpad, using the Galaxy Pad by Samsung, also as the WePad.
